Peter Victor's biography of Herman Daly shows him to be a humble, modest man and very accomplished economist. He has consistently and earnestly sought to learn from the many debates and dialogues that his numerous books and papers inspired. It is a fact that Herman Daly’s ideas are a real force, indeed a catalyst for what many have called a major "paradigm shift" away from the moribund ideas of Neoclassical Economics toward a coherent perspective of what a 'Steady State Economy' can be. To borrow Victor's well-chosen words:
“ And most important of all, what can we learn from him that will help us cope well with the threats and opportunities of the twenty-first century? “
